The New York Kid's Book: 167 Children's Writers and Artists Celebrate New York City
Published in Paperback by Doubleday (September, 1979)
Authors: Children's Writers and Artists Collaborative and Catharine, and Edmonds
Average review score:

Teriffic informational and fun book for kids.
I had this book as a kid in the NY metro area, and I practically toted it around with me. It contains an amazing amount of information! Though some of it may be outdated now, there's so much historical information that I still think it's worth tracking down. Learn about New York ghosts, old gangs in the 1800s, neighborhoods that no longer exist, the oldest wood-framed house still standing, authors and artists who've called New York home. Full of stories, this book kept my attention for years. It was eventually stolen at a slumber party (!), I've been trying to locate a copy since. Also includes the best recipe I've ever seen for a New York Egg Cream!

Authors: Sarah Edmonds and Thomas Odulate
Average review score:

Fantastic for a first time cook!
This cookbook is a delight to use, with photos, for each recipe, not only of the steps and the final presentation, but remarkably of the ingredients. This has been invaluable for a completely uniniated beginner like myself. There is a good variety in the meals presented, which also is very practical for a cook just starting out. There should be more cookbooks like it, with this very effective format.

The Oxford Reverse Dictionary
Published in Paperback by Oxford University Press (15 April, 2002)
Author: David Edmonds
Average review score:

A Boon for the Writer/Poet!
So often I'll have a word I need "on the tip of my tongue" and then it disappears. The Oxford Reverse Dictionary is a marvelous source for finding those elusive words. The other day I wanted the word for pig intestines used as food, so I looked under "pig" and there it was: "chitterlings." I find this an indispensable resource.

The Pirates of the New England Coast, 1630-1730
Published in Paperback by Dover Pubns (May, 1996)
Authors: George Francis Dow and John Henry Edmonds
Average review score:

A well-written, entertaining and accurate source on pirates.
"The Pirates of the New England Coast" constitutes a very well researched and serious source on Piracy for the period 1630-1730. I highly recomend this book, which is well written, entertaining and accurate. The main character is Boston-born Edward Low, the most notorious of all New Englanders who became pirates. Five chapters are dedicated to him, and one to Captain Lowther, his closest partner in plundering. Three chapters are interesting accounts written by seamen who were captured and remained on board Low's ship for weeks. These narrations are among the most valuable sources dealing with life on board a pirate ship. The exploits of other less known pirates such as Harris, Spriggs, Phillips and Fly,(who were all sailing under Low for some time before seeking their own fortunes independently), are also well detailed and researched, based on first hand documents, including: state papers, judicial documents on the pirate trials, and gazettes dating from the Colonial Period.

Excellent Analysis of Doing Business in China
This book presents a very concise and perceptive analysis of doing business in China. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who is interested in understanding China's economy and the implications of technology's impact to this vast country. Today, China is the world's 3rd largest economy, and will be the world's largest economy (even surpassing the US) in about 10 years. Having a fundamental understanding of this country at this early stage is essential to everyone. There will be many investment and business opportunities in this vast country in the decades to come.

Saint Silouan, the Athonite
Published in Paperback by St Vladimirs Seminary Pr (February, 1999)
Authors: Archimandrite Sophrony, Rosemary Edmonds, and Sophrony Sakharov
Average review score:

St. Silouan the Athonite is a living icon of Christ
This is an expanded version of the out-of-print classic from the same author of A MONK OF MOUNT ATHOS (see customer review from Columbus, Georgia). Both St. Silouan and Archimandrite Sophrony are remarkable men who know the Uncreated Light from experience. These are men who can be guides to a world that has lost comprehension of what a real Christian is and what a human being, free of negative emotions and passions of carnality and pride can be. It is an extraordinary portrait. Archimandrite Sophrony is also someone who practiced eastern meditation prior to his re-conversion to Christianity and he knows from experience the danger of confusing the blissful silent expanse of the human soul, with the infinite God. Not to be missed by anyone who wants to know the essence of Orthodox Christianity from a contemporary 20th century witness.
